'Your Employer Brand: Is it more than just a logo?'

There’s a lot of talk about employer branding and its importance, but how do you drive adoption and integration with your business practices if people just think it is a logo and a color palette? Heather Polivka, director of employer marketing at UnitedHealth Group, has struggled with these same questions of adoption inside a global, matrixed Fortune 21 company which has 6 outwardly facing businesses. She will walk you through the practices and strategies used to drive adoption of the employer brand throughout her organization. This isn’t a best practice seminar in theory. This is a how-to and work-in-process in reality. You can expect to hear about:

Employer Brand Adoption & Ownership: How to drive adoption throughout your organization by giving up the illusion that you control the brand message

Multi-Business Organization: How to help the businesses understand the benefits of the whole while maintaining its own unique expression of the employer brand

Candidate Adoption: How to drive candidate understanding of your employer brand thru multiple channels including social media, careers website, collateral, communications, and the interviewing process to empower them to make an informed employment choice

Employee Adoption: How to link recognition to brand behavior to business results to measure the effectiveness of your recognition program, the effectiveness of your employer brand, and drive employee adoption to deliver on organizational objectives

Employer Brand via Social Media: How to determine the where, when, and how to launch into the social media space to drive your employer brand message. Hint: It requires more than just opening a Facebook page.

Kerry Noone, Senior Marketing Manager of Sodexo Talent Acquisition Group, Sodexo Human Resources USA

"Using social media to develop, leverage and strengthen your employer brand

With a B.A. in Corporate Communications and a M.A. in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore, Kerry has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in Marketing and Communications. She is experienced in developing and strengthening corporate brand identities and has managed brands for a variety of organizations. She specializes in integrating these practices into strategic marketing plans. In November 2007, Kerry added recruitment marketing and employer branding to her profile when she joined Sodexo's Talent Acquisition Group as a Marketing Communications Manager. In this fast paced digitally connected era of email, blogs, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and more the ability to connect with a company goes beyond the "About Us" section on a website. Sodexo, like many companies, has embraced social media because it's becoming one of the most popular forms of communication among all generations and it allows them to take an active role in their online presence and build personal relationships with candidates and employees. Kerry has the privilege of working with a team of recruiting professionals who are committed to finding the best qualified candidates and who are open to learning new ways to recruit Sodexo's future employees. Through Social Media Marketing Sodexo's Talent Acquisition team set out to create positive experiences for their candidates, which in turn strengthened their employer brand. Once Sodexo started using social networking sites to connect with people, it didn't take long before they started to build relationships with potential candidates and connect with fellow employees around the world. Under Kerry's direction, social media marketing and social networking has become a significant part of the recruiting strategy at Sodexo in the US.

Marnick Vandebroek, Employer Branding & online recruitment consultant, RCA Group

"Where does campus recruitment deliver value as part of your employer brand strategy?"
Every year campus job fairs are marked on the calendars of most recruiters. But today many companies are questioning the value of continuing with this approach. What's the point? Students who still don't know what they want to do with their lives, have no work experience and seem more interested in your gadgets than your employer brand. What's the added value of your investment and how does it fit with your overall strategy? You are no longer just competing with other employers, you are also competing with schools and travel agents. Marnick will present and discuss the challengers and successes of campus recruiting and why it must be more than just a booth at a job fair - and how to ensure you build a rich pipeline of graduate talent!

As a digital native, the online world has always been a second home for Marnick.  As an online account manager at RCA HR, he quickly discovered companies need more than just a presence to facilitate transactional recruitment in today's highly competitive landscape for talent. They need to define and build a brand that connects and raises brand awareness with the target audience. Marnick specializes in online strategy as part of the employer brand strategy development, uniting the digital and traditional media in the creation of a best practice employer brand.
